Aïssata Sy, also known as Gogo Sy , is a senegalese photographer. Passionate about art and beauty, she enrolled at the National School of Arts in Dakar where she studied architecture and the environment. As a visual artist, she felt very early on the need to capture moments and faces much faster than her pencil could allow. Thus was born her love for photography in 2008 which forces her to always be on the lookout for an emotion, an expression, a face.
ARTISTIC APPROACH
Between Portrait, Architecture and Nature she has focused her photography mainly on these points, although being heterogeneous she remains comfortable with several styles. By exploiting the theme of the portrait, it allows her great freedom of expression, thus raising several questions about identity issues.
René Huyghe describes a portrait as a direct imprint of experience over time.
The representation of each individual in his daily life, elements in their environments, are the characteristics of Gogo's approach.
